Karting

BUKC rolling start at Rye House

BUKC Race Starting at Rye House

Through the year CUAC organises 5-6 karting events for drivers of any ability or experience and it is also responsible for the University team which enters the British Universities Championship, the BUKC.

Club Meetings

The club meetings take place at indoor and outdoor circuits around Cambridge. All equipment (including the kart) is provided by the circuit owners, so you just have to turn up and race! No experience is necessary! The powerful, twin-engine karts can reach speeds of up to 70mph, guaranteeing plenty of fun and exciting racing for everyone. There's also the opportunity to represent Cambridge in the BUKC and the annual Varsity Karting contest and the club meetings are a great place to catch the selectors eye!

In past years CUAC has run a club karting championship and the standings, along with race results are archived. Congratulations to Andrew Cecil who won last year's championship.

There will most likely be two CUAC kart meetings per term and the schedule will be posted here once it's confirmed.

BUKC

CUAC are also in charge of the Cambridge entry in the BUKC, in which more than 60 teams from Universities all over the country compete in the most powerful hire karts in the world, 2 stroke TKMs. The standard of competition in the BUKC is very high with many drivers coming from the Super 1 series and even Formula 3, so it's an excellent place to improve your driving and compete with the best.

This year, for the first time, we are hoping to enter multiple teams in the Championship to allow less experienced drivers the chance to hone their skills and compete to get into the 'A' team in future years so if you'd like to try out for the teams come along to a CUAC race or, if you have karting experience, contact Tom directly.

If you'd like to follow the progress of our BUKC teams or are possibly interested in joining a team and want to find out about the races Tom, the A team captain, has written a BUKC Diary of last season. Updates on our 2008/2009 progress will be added here once the season begins.
